If you have found your way here, you are probably searching for answers. Perhaps you are the parent of a student who struggles academically. Perhaps you are a teenager or a young adult and despite your best efforts you fall short when it comes to managing time, meeting deadlines, keeping track of materials for class, and breaking projects into manageable pieces.
Are you looking for someone to walk alongside you and help you make sense of it all?
Have you tried tutoring and found that you need something more but you’re not sure what?
Have you ever wished that someone would take the time to look past the deficits and see the potential, not just the problems; to help you identify your, or your child’s unique strengths and weaknesses?
YOU MAY BE WONDERING . . .
“What can an educational therapist do for me?”
The goal of educational therapy is to empower students to become independent, self-confident, lifelong learners.
An educational therapist works with clients to improve academic performance in areas such as reading, writing, spelling, math, study skills, and critical thinking skills. Focused attention is given to remediation of gaps in learning and strengthening weak foundation skills that contribute to the client’s struggles.
A therapist will also address non-academic skills that are critical for academic success: learning strategies, organization and time management skills, problem solving, attention, self-esteem, developing awareness of strengths and weaknesses, self-advocacy skills, and motivation.
Each client’s socio-emotional needs are addressed by taking time to establish and grow a relationship that results in a safe place to express feelings that affect learning, and by promoting insight into the connections between emotions, behavior, and learning.
